Lucky me!
I have been participating in Burning Man since my first trip in 2010.
In 2014 I met my beautiful wife Linda, aka Pandora, and it was love at first sight!
We were married the next year and this image shown here is from our playa wedding in 2016.
The hats we are wearing here are the “Angel and Devil” hats I created. They are construction hats studded with modified acrylic spheres and horns and things. They are both powered by Lithium batteries, Arduino processors, and Neopixel LEDs.
The picture was taken in front of Mohammed’s Mini Martini Camp, where we started our relationship two years before.
The Burning Man Love Story
The Burning Man Love Story is a logo I created to celebrate my relationship and honor my wife Linda. It has taken on many forms over the years as you can see here. It’s a tattoo on Linda’s back, It’s a ceiling art piece in our bedroom, it’s a 4′ tall interactive art piece that was built for unSCruz, it’s a custom pendant that I gave away at Burning Man, and it’s a 3D printed ornament that I gave away at Xmas time, AND it’s also engraved as an infinity pattern on our wedding rings! My tattoo was also the basis of the heads on the actual Effigy’s I designed for unSCruz.
Regional Effigy’s
I designed these for unSCruz, all of them, then we burned them, whatever.
The 2018 Effigy was my first, it was just under 8 feet tall. The shark fin was added after the initial design to “regionalize” the design.
The 2019 Effigy had a lighthouse theme with an LED searchlight embedded in the head and stood just under 8 feet tall.
The 2020 (burned in 2022) Effigy had 1000W of LED dreads protruding from the head and stood almost 10 feet tall. It had a shark surrounding the base about to swallow it whole!
The 2023 Effigy “MerMan” stood just under 14 feet tall with the arms lifted. Some back luck with weather made this burn a bit soggy!
The 2024 Effigy “OctoMan” stood just under 14 feet tall and had lot’s of moving parts during the burn. It hid a tribute to love and squirrels that were exposed by fire.
