Off Hwy 156
These pictures are from the first trip with the New Bad Monkey on 1/19/02
The obsticle course
I finally got to go wheelin in my new and improved Dodge at hollister after working on it for 9 months!
The first thing I did was played around on some easy obsticles to get my feet muddy.
A bit bumpy but no problem at all...
Now for something a bit more challenging, 5 fingers hill is always a blast. The little rain that we did
get this winter took its toll on this hill and it was the gnarliest I've ever seen it.
I stayed to the left of the gnarly rut going up the center at times getting quite a bit off camber but
the top was the goal and thats where we ate lunch.
This was my first hill climb with front and rear lockers and it was a breeze.
Yikes, thats the view from the top looking down.
Here's another view out at the park from the top of 5 fingers. This is a BIG hill!
We always stop by the stairs for some fun.
I did this twice, the first time I didnt even spin a tire because I approached it at an angle. The second
time I hit it strait and got all 4 wheels in the smooth cement ruts and had to spin a bit to get out
and then it was a smooth ride up.
Just for fun I locked up my Dana80 rear and put it in 2H and spin some doughnuts.
I barely had to touch the throttle and the rear end would break loose and spin real easy.
Before we left we took a drive to the very top of west road and on the way back down we stopped to see
how my new suspension did on some rocks.
I was able to just drive up this pile of boulders with no effort and park for some pictures. Afterwards
I drove up and over the rocks and back onto west road.
The rear tires are actually pretty tubbed in this photo.
This is a cool angle but the sun didnt want to cooperate.
This is probably the best view to illustrate that the rocks were not small.
See the front wheel stuffed into the wheel well.
Here's the front wheel that was extended down (opposite the rock)
After climbing over a couple more boulders to get here I stopped and snapped a shot at the top of this
hill.
Overall I was very pleased with the performance of my new creation. Project
Bad Monkey 2001
was a great success!
