Ukiah 2001
Rock Crawlin
Thanx to my uncle Zig and his 40 acre playground for these awesome trails! On memorial weakend 2001 I
along with lots of friends and family drove up to Ukiah CA for a weakend of fun. The pictures on this page
were taken by Andy Dec with my camera, Thanx Andy!
The first obstacle I set out to play on was this bog old rock slab above camp.
This place is beautiful, see the Oak trees in the back?
I spent a few minutes here crawlin around on this rock.
This picture shows the approach from the tall grass onto the rock slab, I was able to drive out from
camp on the trail and then through the grass to the rock no problem.
Next we followed my uncle Zig down the trail to a great spot, check it out!
This was the coolest spot! There was a trail carved by the water (it was dry) that was barely twice
the width of my truck. The bottom was lined with loose river rock. Check out the rock overhang over
Jr.
This spot was a rock gorge surrounding a great trail for my truck, it was too cool.
This was the way in from the trail, I would then turn around and go back through the opposite dirrection.

The next 8 pictures are a stop motion progression of Jr driving out of the rock gorge.

Bye Bye Jr.
The creek on the other side of the trail was all big boulders, I was able to drive up on this one
for a picture!
Heres me and my nephew Austin on the trail just above the creek crossing, we headed up to the
next obstacle.
Just up the trail about 75 feet there was this cool rock sticking out of the ground so I drove over to
it and climbed it!
Heres Jr at the ridge just about to cross over.
This picture is another angle and zoom of the same position.
Heres Jr on the way down, the tall grass didnt even phase my truck on the approach and departure.
Once again I started up this rock but in a steeper spot.
I cleared the hump and started up the rock face.
This face is pretty damn steep and those mashers grip great! The locked 4 wheel drive just pulls
the truck up without hesitation.
Another view of Jr on the steep rock face.
On our way back up the hill we stopped for a pose shot on this rock and shortly after placing the truck
on the rock I heard a loud rattle. Needless to say we all jumped back and I saw a 1-3/4" thick snake
curling down into its den under the rock... Snake talk, me listen.
The last bit of the hike I drove Jr up this dear trail near the creek, well above the previous creek
obstacle. Once back at camp I set out to run down my batteries and still had 15 minutes left on the
packs!
